WORDS: 267 | TAG: Verdani/any | NOTES: hop in if you'd like!
The power of the dunskin’s four feathered appendages working in harmony scattered the thick mist that lay over Crystal-Bell. Steam rose from his sooty shoulders and flared nostrils, bright green and gold eyes scanning his surroundings as he lowered his bulk onto the bank of one of the lakes. Dark grey hooves clattered over the stone shore in a slow trot to help with a gradual dissipation of his previous momentum. Within a few meters, Brahm’s steps had relaxed into his normal long, unhurried, marching strides and his wings had taken from their steady beats to stretching themselves out in turns as he walked. The muscles ached when pulled after their first flight in sometime in the overcast skies and his lungs burned with the cold, early fall morning air.
But he relished the feeling, savoring it as though it was his first.
Even his dark purple firefly, Ian, seemed to be in a fair mood as the creature released the messy braid it had clung to during the heavy warmblood's flight. It danced lazily about his scarred face, enjoying the chilled early morning and the odd sounds of groggy animals greeting the sun as it fought through cloud cover and the pine trees on the opposite shore.
It was the familiar sound of an equine that broke his leisurely stroll, easily picked up against the soft background of stirring birds and the odd skittering animal. His black capped limbs ceased in their march at the noise, wings retracting into loose repose near his sides while his chiseled head swung towards the direction of his company with curiosity reflecting in his stern, bright green and gold gaze.

Verdani yawned, blinking groggily up as she struck the tip of her silver horn on either side of her hoof a couple times. She gathered her lanky limbs underneath her frame and slowly rose. A dark moving shape in the hanging mist caught her attention. She peered upward, backing up under the shelter of the tree. She realized it was another horse, but continued to watch as he moved along the shore stretching his wings. She remained still, not wishing to attract his attention yet.
Dani yearned for another's company, having been on her own for weeks. She had yet to approach any of the other equines she had seen. It seemed they were always in groups and she hated to butt in. She had left her home after being figuratively pushed out of the nest. Her parents kept having foals and their little grove had gotten too crowded for her liking. Now she was lost, or rather she did not know where she was going. Instincts told her she needed a herd for protection, but she disliked crowds. The young mare hoped she could find a small herd in this new land.
Slipping out from under the trees, she moved toward the stallion. She balked slightly when she met his gaze, but she stopped a few yards from him. She gave him a friendly smile. "Hello, sir. I'm Verdani, or Dani. Do you know where we are?"
((Sorry for the delay. I haven't been on the computer much the past few days. I was making some things for the farmer's market this weekend.))

WORDS: 266 | TAG: Verdani | NOTES: no worries, the market sounds fun c:
It was not the purple hue of her slim body or the long, spiraling horn that sprouted from her forehead that caught his attention, but the way she had addressed him. Even the tiny word was a breath of fresh air, and, honestly, quite surprising for the brute to hear after having to deal with an incessantly rude creature and a general lack of respectful terms. Of course, Brahm did not expect the youth of Black Hollow to give much in ways of verbal courtesy; he did not expect it outright from anyone.
But disrespect was something he scorned and worked to distance himself from.
And something he could not show the Arabian and her warm smile.
He dipped his heavy head in greeting, blowing a quick puff of cloudy air from his black nostrils to dispel his suppressed astonishment and allowing an amiable smile to tug lopsidedly at his black lips. "It is a pleasure to make your acquaintance, ma'am. I am Brahm." He offered her his own name before gesturing with his dusted muzzle to the surrounding forest. "And, if I am not mistaken, this is Crystal-Bell."
For a moment, his gaze followed in a scrutinizing sweep of the misty lands, brow furrowing ever so slightly as he worked to remember how Crystal-Bell sat relative to other land marks in the case she needed more than a name for this piece of Rhendakin.
With another gentle huff, his attention returned to focus solely on the silvery purple mare, once again speaking in his rumbling baritone. "Would you be new to the northern lands, Dani?"

Verdani was thrilled to have made contact with another friendly being. Her golden firefly flickered excitedly around her head, belying her own excitement. “A pleasure to meet you, Brahm.”Her eyes followed Brahm's as he looked around. Crystal Bell. Dani found it fitting. It held a kind of exotic beauty. She supposed that is why she choose to stay the night here. Her gaze returned to the stallion. She looked at him closer, lingering on his wings. While she had seen winged horses before, she had never really been this close to them.
She realized she was being rude and returned her gaze to his face. In response to his question, she nodded her head. “Yes, my home is a ways from here. In truth, I am searching for a new herd. Would you happen to know of any small herds near here? Do you live around here?”

The dunskin allowed his smile to deepen at the antics of her golden companion, even as he watched it's dance from the very corner of his eye. His own seemed to be unamused with any of the being's in its presence, beside the light wind that it played upon in its drift around to his barred hindquarters.
Such was to be expected of his small, purple Ian. And due to the grumpy thing's nature it still aroused his curiosity to see how others and their seemingly more personable fireflies interact.
Even as his eyes returned to focus upon her, he gave the bright insect a quick pass over and a gentle shake of his dark muzzle, catching her pale green gaze idle over his many wings. At the observation a brow arched ever so softly in interest. He was used to odd looks aimed towards his peculiar set of wings and half expected a question or comment from the cream splashed mare. But was mildly relieved when she refrained and returned her attention to his orbs and his inquiry.
When she asked her own, Brahm offered a tilt of his head in a sort of 'well' motion before he answered with a slight, disdainful curl of his lip.
"I know of a mare who wishes to start a herd further south, in Dewberry. But she is of a more unsavory sort. I do not believe you would like her," The muted sneer turned into something more pleasant, his tone turned teasing. "Unless this pleasant exterior is all a ruse and you are truly just a wolf in sheep's clothing?"
The pegasus took pause to draw in a breath of the chill, morning air and to allow her time to reply if she wished before continuing in an informative tone. "To answer your question more seriously, Crystal-Bell has no herds presently. I do not think that any land has had claims lain upon them. As for me, I've been wandering for a while, but would be interesting to settle a herd on this side of the mountains or the other if I can gather the numbers to do so."
